SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is seeking a Senior Staff Process Engineer for the Module R&D department.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned)

Work with a cross-functional team of Cell scientists, Module engineers and Product managers to design and deploy next-generation solar products

Innovate and develop new techniques, equipment and tooling for high-volume manufacturing of next-gen solar products

Drive projects from ideation, design, testing, prototyping, validation, toward knowledge transfer to factory R&D and NPI

Provide leadership in the area of process, material, productization, reliability and performance monitoring

 

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements - The least amount of skills and training candidates must have to do a specific job. Candidates not meeting these requirements will not be hired for this position.

Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent, or M.S. graduates with 3 years of working experience

3 years+ of research or industry experience in PV related process or equipment development

Proven track record of highly significant advanced Solar PV innovation or breakthroughs in highly complex technical problems

Knowledge of in material development, productization, accelerated testing, product lifetime, and modeling

Able to go to lab, design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and report experimental results

Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) required

Good working attitude, able to multi-task a variety of projects

Quick learner, self-starter, independent, able to work and deliver results with minimum supervision

Experienced in 8D, interdisciplinary problem solving, Solidworks

 

Preferred requirements

Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent with 3 years of working experience, or M.S. graduates with 6 years of working experience

6 years+ of research or industry experience in PV related process development

PV technology R&D breadth encompassing both cell and module technology at an advanced level

Experience in leading manufacturing team, process scale-up from R&D to high-volume manufacturing

Experience in design and modeling real-world performance + experimental validation

Knowledge of JMP or equivalent data analysis tool
