SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position is responsible for the direct management oversight and on-schedule, on-budget delivery of multiple concurrent large commercial distributed generation PV projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. This position maintains liaison with prime client contacts, and directs and monitors construction and financial activities by providing direction to project engineers, supply chain and logistics coordinators, administrative and finance staff, on-site construction managers, and subcontracted labor and design services. The position is based in Richmond, CA and will be the Sr. Project Manager responsible for several direct reports in Northern California region project management, execution, and all related EPC responsibilities including close alignment and support of multiple development opportunities. This position reports to the Northern California Senior Manager.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for complying and monitoring Company safety and quality goals on the assigned project

  • Responsible for insuring 100% customer satisfaction on the assigned project

  • Responsible for managing the construction process for the assigned project

  • Responsible for managing the budget and schedule goals of the assigned projects, from project inception through project closeout

  • Responsible for managing the opportunity/risk review /contract negotiations

  • Identify key construction and design components through on-site audits with design and sales teams

  • Performs regular risk analysis and cost forecasting and reporting for assigned projects

  • Manage key deliverables from design, procurement and construction

  • Leverages knowledge of system delivery milestones to capture reduced construction costs wherever possible

  • Coordinates resource availability and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals

  • Monitor final site budget, contract review, schedule, and signature acquisition process for all assigned projects

  • Manage schedule and cost lifecycle of the assigned project through project close and tracks all schedule aspects for assigned projects, from pre-approval through project close-out to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Identifies opportunities for and initiation of customer change orders, in alignment with contract terms & conditions.

  • Responsible for overseeing document management and administration for the assigned projects

  • Responsible for effective oversight of multiple subcontractors and temporary leased installation labor

  • Negotiates and manages subcontracts and subcontractor change management

  • Serves as the primary corporate representative to the customer, permitting agencies, and other project personnel

  • Will evaluate the performance of  several project managers/associate project managers as assigned to provide accurate feedback on the level of performance within the department

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 2-4 years of people management experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of site project management experience is required, or

  • Equivalent combination of education and years of related experience

  • Strong technical, supervisory, and project management skills based on construction industry experience

  • Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes

  • Proven ability to successfully procure, monitor, and assess subcontracted construction functions such as electrical contractors, foundation, steel and commercial roofers

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Project are required

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

 

Preferred requirements

  • Additional experience with electrical systems and wiring is strongly preferred

  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as  external customers and vendors

  • Ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus

  • Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prior deadlines
