Job Title:

Sr. Product Manager, Solar Modules

SunPower is seeking a talented, customer centric Sr. Product Manager to lead the solar module portfolio. This position is responsible for carrying out key activities to ensure that the functional operations of the company are aligned with market needs.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen, demonstrated background in defining and launching complex product solutions, the ability to adapt quickly in a fast changing environment, and a passion for changing the way our world is powered. 

Role Description:

Manages initiatives to improve product market share, gross margin, and revenue. Manages module product roadmaps, competitive analysis, and product positioning. Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Serves as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Drive cross-functional efforts to grow market share of SunPower’s product offering
  • Identify key market opportunities and translate them into strong business cases for product development initiatives
  • Define and support “go to market” strategy
  • Monitor market requirements to identify trends, generate product requirements, determine specifications and recognize partnership opportunities
  • Prioritize new feature development and product revisions and ensure alignment with product roadmap
  • Create and refine sales tools and technical support processes and documents
  • Gather feedback from customers and partners in order to ensure closed loop learning in our product development efforts
  • Understand changing market and permitting requirements to ensure SunPower’s product offering complies with applicable standards
  • Support 3rd party product evaluation as necessary

Qualification requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; proven ability to influence and work with all levels of an organization
  • Solid technical foundation, ability to learn and adapt quickly, and demonstrated ability to frame and drive business decisions
  • Experience supporting customers in an external facing role
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and a “can do” attitude
  • Understanding of energy economics, utility rate structures, and distributed generation interconnection policies and compensation mechanisms
  • Lean product development experience is a plus

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • BS in technical field, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering; MBA or M.S degree is a plus
  • Preferred 3 years relevant work experience
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
