SunPower is seeking a talented, hands-on Product Manager to join our Commercial Product Development team.  This position is responsible for carrying out key activities to ensure that the functional operations of the company are aligned with market needs.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen, demonstrated background in defining and launching complex product solutions, the ability to adapt quickly in a fast changing environment, and a passion for changing the way our world is powered.  This position will report to the Director of Commercial Product Management and will work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver best in class product solutions to our customers and partners.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Drive cross-functional efforts to grow market share of SunPower’s commercial product offering
  • Identify key market opportunities and translate them into strong business cases for product development initiatives
  • Define and support commercial product “go to market” strategy
  • Monitor market requirements to identify trends, generate product requirements, determine specifications and recognize partnership opportunities
  • Prioritize new feature development and product revisions and ensure alignment with commercial product roadmap
  • Create and refine sales tools and technical support processes and documents
  • Develop and improve existing internal operational processes for commercial product line operations
  • Gather feedback from customers and partners in order to ensure closed loop learning in our product development efforts
  • Understand changing market and permitting requirements to ensure SunPower’s commercial product offering complies with applicable standards
  • Support 3rd party product evaluation as necessary


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience
  • Postgraduate coursework is desirable
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience


Qualification requirements

  • BS in technical field, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering; MBA is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experiences; 3+ years of progressive business leadership and complex program/product delivery
  • Strong market analysis capability and business operations acumen, with a demonstrated ability in a Product Management capacity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; proven ability to influence and work with all levels of an organization
  • Solid technical foundation, ability to learn and adapt quickly, and demonstrated ability to frame and drive business decisions
  • Understanding of energy economics, utility rate structures, and distributed generation interconnection policies and compensation mechanisms
  • Hands-on experience designing and building PV and energy storage systems
  • Experience supporting customers in an external facing role
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and a “can do” attitude
  • Lean product development experience is a plus
