SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is seeking a Manager of Project Controls. This role reports to Sr. Manager of Project Controls and will supervise Project Controls staff. This is a role that combines strategic and tactical approaches to problem solving, aligning the day-to-day execution with cross functional teams towards a common goal while implementing best practices on project management with focus on planning, cost management, scheduling, forecasting, risks analysis, change management, project financials and overall project performance reporting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Oversee key deliverables from Project Controls Analysts & Engineers (GBFS & U.S.) as defined. Implement the project controls key disciplines and compliance focused on maintain accuracy on costs, schedule, risks, change management (sub and customer) and rev rec forecasting.
  • Conduct required related trainings and guidance on project forecasting standard policies and accounting accruals.
  • Perform audit and analysis findings on the results of project reviews conducted by Project Controls Engineers with PMO team based on collected data to create business intelligence that highlights impacts to POC, revenue, margin, costs, schedule, MW installation, customer billings, cash flow, risks and overall project status.  
  • Maintain and adhere to a regular reporting cadence: weekly dashboard to PMO, biweekly outlook reporting update to FP&A and quarterly reporting on overall project performance.
  • Lead liaison on conducting project financial metrics reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis and methodologies to drive project planning, execution and to provide PMO team with critical variable project movements for business decision making including but not limited to cash flow, spend and revenue curve, variance analysis, earned value reporting, outlook vs. plan tracking and coordinating with PMO on establishing a periodic (quarterly & annually) project financials forecasting commitments.
  • This role should be equally adept on project management life cycle and critical requirements in supporting PMO with appropriate controls and reporting in delivering a successful project on time and within budget.
  • Establish a constant communication with PMO leaders on outstanding project items and timely escalation, as needed.
  • Drive cross functional coordination with EPC, estimating, finance, supply chain, commissioning, project accounting and auditors to meet project’s compliance, lesson learned initiatives and improvement of cost estimating accuracy and schedule efficiencies.  
  • Enforce standard WBS, policies and procedures, timely project status reporting and key protocols to providing data for reporting.
  • Provides guidance and consultation for project management team on best practices.
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, FP&A, business, finance, or construction management related field.
  • 7 years of experience with project management or project controls on planning and coordination, costs, schedule, risks analysis, reporting metrics, revenue recognition methodology and accounting best practices.
  • Highly analytical and organized.
  • Experience with Commercial is preferred.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and multi-site portfolios.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation
  • Advanced skills in MS Office/Excel; proficiency in Oracle, Salesforce and a project scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of project accounting requirements (Rev Rec, ASC 606, SOX, General compliance).
  • Commitment to projects’ success is a must.
