Summary of Role: 
We are seeking an Energy Storage Analyst to support the development and implementation of SunPower’s energy storage offering and solutions for commercial customers and front-of-meter applications. As a member of SunPower’s energy storage team, the Energy Storage Analyst is responsible for performing technical and economic analysis to identify the optimal energy storage solutions to support the development and execution of SunPower’s energy storage pipeline. Based on market opportunities identified by the Sales and Energy Storage teams, you will help identify storage products that meet pipeline needs, develop and maintain models to accurately forecast the performance of value of energy storage systems, and provide key technical and financial information to the sales, development and construction teams to support execution of the company’s energy storage pipeline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain performance models for energy storage systems covering behind-the-meter applications for commercial customers and front-of-meter applications for grid-scale storage projects.
  • Perform project-specific analysis to support project finance due diligence
  • Develop business cases for new storage applications
  • Provide analysis to support the evolution of SunPower’s energy storage solution to meet customer, market and regulatory needs
  • Support diligence on energy storage hardware and software vendors
  • Maintain and provide to appropriate team members key technical and financial information about storage components used for SunPower projects
  • Conduct trainings and provide informal guidance to other SunPower departments on energy storage topics relevant to their work.
  • Maintain tools for energy storage analytics including rate sheets, rate modeling software, and models.
  • Interface with storage software team on new revenue streams and incentives
  • Perform diligence for financiers of projects and financier independent engineers including custom modeling to support SunPower’s operating assumptions.



Minimum Requirements: 

  • Substantial exposure to the energy industry, either via academics or a professional role
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing time demands
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Effective at creating, summarizing and presenting information logically for executive decision making
  • Knowledge of finance and business concepts


Preferred Requirements: 
 

  • 2+ years of professional experience with energy storage technologies and applications for commercial customers and grid-tied storage systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, economics or engineering from a top institution
  • Basic knowledge of energy storage systems
