SunPower’s legal team is looking for an experienced, creative, and energized attorney to advise our fast-moving teams of corporate development leaders, product managers, engineers, and marketers on a variety of strategic transactions, including M&A and financial transactions supporting an expanding business. This role requires focus, drive, compassion, and thoughtfulness, and reports to the Director, Product Counsel. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership with a focus on providing actionable and practical legal and business support and solutions to the Company
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including executive management, business leads, finance, and treasury
  • Lead and coordinate M&A and other strategic transaction from inception to integration
  • Partner across legal, corporate development and strategy, finance, marketing, investor relations and many other functions to drive the best possible outcomes for SunPower
  • Partner with internal clients effectively throughout the product development lifecycle, leading brainstorming and invention harvesting sessions, advising on new products and features, identifying applicable legal constraints and product risks, proposing solutions and mitigation measures that facilitate business objectives
  • Support transactions relating to the Company’s legacy business lines, to drive to successful resolution
  • Partner with other functions of the legal department to minimize risk and follow proper governance procedures for all transactions

  • Performs special projects and responsibilities assigned by your manager or the General Counsel


Required Qualifications

  • J.D. and active member of the bar in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • 8+ or more years of experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Combination of law firm and in-house litigation experience
  • Strong experience in M&A and an understanding or experience of corporate governance activities
  • Significant experience managing multiple, complex, strategic, specialty law projects, issues, and transactions
  • Basic financial reporting capabilities and ability to manage to budget
  • Experience and comfort working with senior executives
  • Capacity to think strategically to identify issues and develop long-term solutions
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and manage major projects to successful completion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly within a geographically diverse workplace requiring both in person and remote communications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer-focus orientation
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and project management skills, as well as the ability to navigate within a corporate environment and work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong technology skills
  • Organizational and management skills necessary for the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines
