Associate Project Manager, Multifamily Construction– Is a member of a project management team responsible for the simultaneous execution of a portfolio of projects in multiple locations and at varying stages of the project lifecycle.  The APM is responsible for the day-to-day administration of projects and support of Project Managers on the team.



The Associate Project Manager is individually responsible for the following duties:

  • Interconnection

    • Prepare Utility interconnection documents on behalf of customers and facilitate their accurate and timely submittal to utility offices for processing.  This includes:

      • Filling out the application documents with the customer's information

      • Meeting with customers to walk them through what is required to net meter production

      • Proactively track the status of applications until approval is granted

      • Maintain relationships with individuals at various Utility offices so we can enquire about the status of applications & interpretation of process and program rules


  • Client Relations

    • Attend client kickoff meeting, take detailed notes about stakeholders & agreements made

    • Set up regularly scheduled customer-facing meetings and take meeting minutes

      • Includes internally & externally facing meetings as well as distribution of minutes to attendees


  • Subcontractor Management

    • Support new Installation Partners with our prequalification process

    • Work with Project Manager to distribute Subcontractor Bid packages

      • Includes Subcontractor Scopes of Work (SOW), coordinate drawings & schedule meetings

    • Assist with final review of all Subcontractor Bid packages to confirm no scope gaps

    • Set up scheduled subcontractor facing meetings and take meeting minutes

      • Includes internally & externally facing meetings as well as distribution of minutes to attendees

    • Internal subcontractor/material reporting; as requested by other teams e.g financing team

    • Coordinate directly with the Construction Manager and/ or subcontractor to collect as-builts & field electrical forms and testing reports post-construction

    • Collect and maintain Construction Manager and Subcontractor generated documentation, including all warranty paperwork


  • Design Change Tracking

    • Become intimately familiar with project design, contribute to the ongoing review of construction drawings

    • Manage subcontractor RFI’s & submittals


  • Materials Management

    • Review & maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) against our orders in our internal logistics tools and against our orders with outside vendors

    • Coordinate material delivery schedule with the Construction Manager and Subcontractor

    • Secure all warranty paperwork


  • Budget Management

    • Purchase Requisitions & Purchase Order creation and management

    • Subcontractor/Material invoice review

    • Assist Project Manager with preparing ‘Estimated Cost at Completion' (EAC) reports capturing actual budget commitments as well as foreseeable risk items and commitments



  • Ensure Schedule of Values (SOV) for billing period reflects project progress in collaboration with Construction Manager and Subcontractors

  • Ensure Milestone invoices are issued in a timely manner

  • Maintain billing calendar if the contract calls for invoices to be submitted by a specific date each month


The Associate Project Manager will coordinate with other SunPower project staff and contribute to the following tasks:

  • Manage project document uploads, RFIs & submittals in the Customer portal.

  • Coordinate the development of safety & quality control plans

  • Coordinate Subcontractor bid selection process – RFQ, RFI, job walks

  • Coordination of subcontracts and change orders, invoices, and associated documentation 

  • Monitor and track all subcontractor/supplier invoices

  • Execute the internal Project Close Out which includes Customer Service Handoff and Admin deactivation

  • Assist Project Manager with regular updating of project schedule

  • Assist Project Manager, Construction Manager and/ or Subcontractor in development of project Site, Safety, Logistics and other project plans as may be required















  • Previous experience managing Utility Net Energy Metering (NEM) and Virtual Net Energy Metering (VNEM) application processes preferred

  • Skill in using computer software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook. 

  • Experience using Oracle, MS Project, LeanKor, Primavera and Prolog software are desirable

  • Valid State of Residency Driver’s License and access to vehicle

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to logically troubleshoot problems and develop creative solutions



  • 4 years Construction Management or Engineering degree or equivalent construction experience

  • 2 years experience as Interconnection Coordinator or Specialist, Project Engineer, Associate Project Manager, Superintendent or Construction Manager for a construction company

  • An interest or experience in alternative energy, distributed generation, energy efficiency, and/or green building is a plus
