The Product Manager will lead the conception, development and growth of our residential market product offerings, with a focus on EV chargers. This position will drive products offering from cradle to grave, ensuring gross margin optimization and industry-leading features.


The Product Manager's responsibilities will range from increasing the profitability of existing product lines, to conceiving and developing new product lines and product line extensions. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the development of products across the EV charging market. You will work closely with customers and regional sales office staff to fully understand and appreciate customer needs and desires. You will coordinate the work of highly qualified teams of technologists, operations and marketing specialists to bring to market industry-leading products and services. Following product launch, you will work closely with operations to reduce product cost, implement product enhancements, monitor and improve product quality and yield, and rationalize supply/demand planning.


You will possess a combination of big-picture vision and creativity with detail-oriented execution skills and business savvy. You will be expected to travel up to about 10 – 20% of your work time.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.     

  • Be a focal point for SunPower EV charging technology, roadmap, and new product planning
  • Own the customer interface channel: ensures that engineering, operations and marketing information is communicated clearly and timely, tracks deliverables and customer expectations
  • Manage entire product line life cycle from inception and strategic planning through product introduction and growth
  • Conduct market research and develop a business case for new products
  • Develop and manage differentiating product requirement documents for successive generations of products
  • Coordinate product design and development, pricing, and launch
  • Develop and implement the go-to-market plan with cross-functional team
  • Track, analyze and present product line results to senior management
  • Conduct field research and customer interviews to identify market requirements and trends
  • Drive product/design issues to positive resolution
  • Lead preparation of product-specific sales training and sales support collateral
  • Reconcile sales forecasting and operations build planning with market share goals
  • Travel to the customer, vendor and internal company sites


Education and Experience

  • BS / MS in electrical engineering, physics, or mechanical engineering, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience, knowledge of the EV charging market desirable
  • Previous product management experience is highly desirable
  • Prior successful experience in working in a start-up and/or small company environment



  • Extremely strong Pro-forma modeling capability to perform analyses spanning financial, technical, and system performance boundaries
  • Ability to pull information from a variety of places and synthesize it into a framework that will support/drive high-level decisions
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Demonstrated experience in bringing relevant products to launch and to maturity
  • Superior project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong presentation skills at the Senior Management level
