SunPower is seeking a Director of Financial Products to lead development of new and existing products, develop ideas that promote the growth and profitability of our financial products.   The position is based in Austin, TX.  The Director of Financial Products reports to the Vice President Financial Products and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the companies financial product offerings including residential loans, leases and retail installment contracts. Additionally, this role will develop comprehensive product targeting, growth and experience strategies backed by robust business controls and policies/processes improvements in order to optimize portfolio performance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead development of new products, refine existing products and develop ideas that promote the growth of financial products
  • Managing our team of financial product professionals
  • Identify product opportunities, assess risk and proactively develop product design enhancements and improved sales practices to increase financial product adoption
  • Create marketing strategy for financial product growth and work with marketing, IT and operations on development and implementation
  • Utilize statistical metrics and models that provide insights into response, balance, rate, segmentation, and price elasticity, etc. to identify target segments and marketing tactics
  • Review competitive market practices and make recommendations concerning adjustments to programs in related areas
  • Collaborate with colleagues in various functional areas of the company to meet operational and product growth targets
  • Develop and lead partnership opportunities and day-to-day relationships




  • Educational: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance with preference for quantitative fields (eg, Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, Predictive modeling) or a related field is preferred
  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or in a quantitative field is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in financial services is required
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of driving financial product growth is required
  • Strong work ethic and ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented and organized with superior analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think creatively to solve complex business and financial problems
  • In-depth understanding of finance/valuation concepts and financial statements
  • Extensive financial modeling experience
  • Superior knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint



  • Position can be in Richmond, CA or Austin, TX
  • 10% of travel required
  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the US
  • Limited relocation assistance will be provided to the selected candidate



  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of people management experience
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
