The Partner Development Manager (PDM), based in AZ, UT, CO, will be responsible for bringing on new Non-Installing (ND) & Installing Dealers (ID) as well as Energy Consultants through our Independent Contractor (IC) Channel. PDM will report to the Area Sales Director.


This role is the primary point of sales/recruiting contact for Independent Contractors and recruiting of Non-Installing and Installing Dealers. To succeed in this role, a Partner Development Manager must be able to recruit, train, mentor, and coach Independent Contractors and onboard Non-Installing and Installing Dealers to be handed over to the local Regional Sales Manager(s).


This position will demand a great deal of flexibility and courage to think outside the box.


The Partner Development Manager will also act as the IC/ND/ID Channel’s internal advocate while interfacing with marketing, customer service, channel management, operations, IT, and finance to ensure a best-in-class customer and experience. Additionally, the Partner Development Manager will actively solicit feedback on products and services, collect market intelligence, and drive product/service improvements in the IC/ND/ID channel.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and onboard new Non-Installing/Installing Dealers/Independent Contractors / 1099s to sell SunPower systems to residential customers
  • Train, mentor, and coach to sell SunPower systems
  • Communicate key messages to new ND/IDs and individuals wanting to sell SunPower via IC Channel
  • Collect feedback for product and service improvements from the ND/ID/IC Channels to feed up to management
  • Schedule and conduct ongoing training of the ND/ID/IC sales reps relative to product information and in-home selling processes/techniques
  • Help to create new processes and procedures as the ND/ID/IC Channels
  • Submit weekly forecasts, attend weekly sales and region-specific meetings, manage the day to day communications with Independent Contractors and chase list ID/NDs
  • Solicit, receive, route, follow-up, and resolve ND/ID/IC concerns and complaints
  • Gather market intelligence and report to Management
  • Maintain accurate records of customer communication
  • Track metrics to evaluate ND/ID/IC channels performance
  • Other Job duties as requested


Frequent regional travel (<25%) to training and recruiting sessions will be required.

The Partner Development Manager can expect but will not be limited to an average 2 overnight stays per month, 2 weeks annually focused on national and regional sales meetings and Dealer conferences.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven successful experience working with 1099s, Non-Installing & Installing dealers and recruiting high-performing talent.
  • Must work well independently.
  • Experience working with large sales teams.
  • A strong desire to be a part of a rapidly growing business with an opportunity to progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; team player attitude


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • In-home / outside sales experience required.
  • 3-5 years of strong experience in sales or business development in a high-ticket retail market (HVAC, Windows, other)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills, including strength in MS Office, Salesforce, and sales like digital tools.
