About the Position

Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, the Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with 15+ years of experience will be responsible for SunPower Technologies Global databases with focus on Oracle EBS (ERP) Database. This is an Architect / Manager level position who is expected to have deep technical expertise across multiple types of databases like Oracle ERP, SQL Server, NoSQL, Columnar, & Cloud databases. He/ She is also expected to lead a small team of vendor resources and be an advisor for IT applications and analytics team. The candidate will work on Databases of Oracle ERP (EBS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other databases within SunPower application landscape. The candidate will also be responsible for 24x7 Global SunPower database availability of Databases. The candidate will partner with the IT application team to support development and operations of IT applications. The candidate will also supervise a Global database operations & support team from a SI Vendor to design, code, configure, maintain, and deploy changes following best practices prescribed by ITIL & adhering to company policy & regulations.

 

The successful candidate needs to provide deep technical expertise support to the Application & Digital team members with wide range of knowledge pertaining to database technology.  The candidate will work towards fulfilling his/her key result (KR) objectives with minimal supervision in day-to-day work and be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.

 

 

Specific deliverables associated with this role include:

 

  • Comply with SunPower policy & regulations.
  • Contributes to SunPower strategic vision and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding Database implementation, operations, and support.
  • Seeks out opportunities for system improvement with a focus on continuous improvement of Database functionality, efficiency and availability.
  • Analyzes Database requirements and deliver relevant Database solution with all available alternatives to deliver the best solution to meet the objectives.
  • Knowledge of different types of databases from Cloud Service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required. Example - AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, Snowflakes, Incorta.    
  • Evaluates impact of proposed changes to SunPower application landscape.
  • Interacts regularly with SunPower Application & Digital team to support SunPower Application & Digital development.
  • Manages the day-to-day database support activities for all of the applications supported by the department. Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Management, etc with high RTO, RPO, etc is required.
  • Propose technical specifications for system enhancements and perform or consult on subsequent system configurations and development.
  • Conducts reviews and periodically audits works performed by the 3rd party Database Support team.
  • Support database development efforts across functional areas, verifies end results meet requirements and ensures that cross functional impact of configuration changes is analyzed and thoroughly tested.
  • Secure database and application through patching, enrolling users and maintain system integrity.
  • Conduct weekly meeting with database and application support teams to work on current and outstanding issues.
     

 

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience.

 

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as IS/IT, computer engineering or software design or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 
  • Minimum of 15 years professional IT experience in a related position supporting IT application & databases and managing a team of 3-5 team members is essential.
  • Minimum of 10 years Oracle Database experience with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server database.
  • Oracle Database Administration Professional certification (Developer certification preferred)
  • Experience with Oracle 12c Release 2 and above. (Working experience with Oracle 18c or 19c is preferred)
  • 10+ years of working Oracle EBS experience with first hand Oracle application support role is mandatory.
  • Good communication & presentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel internationally and regionally as required.
  • Experience in integrating IDM products with Oracle, custom applications and third-party vendors
  • Minimum of 5 years upgrade experience, specifically RAC and Oracle EBS Application.
  • MUST be flexible and willing to work overnights and weekends.
  • Experience in DMZ configuration and integrating 3rd party products.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in setting up data replication technologies Goldengate, Shareplex, AWS Data Migration services, Oracle Active dataguard is a must.
  • Automate configuration management using any tools like, python, bash scripting
  • Performs the capacity planning and server planning for the current and future business needs.
  • Performs ongoing tuning of databases and makes necessary changes
  • AWS working experience is good to have including Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB, MySQL
  • In depth understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures
