SunPower is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to support the Operations and Maintenance division in the Philippines. Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Administration Team Lead (Philippines), the General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, financial consolidation and supporting financial statement preparation, maintenance of Philippines general ledger, supporting compliance with local Philippine tax and statutory reporting requirements, performing budget to actual comparison or results, helping to ensure compliance with group finance policies and procedures, supporting administration of payroll, and performing expense report audits (as required).

Family Description:

  • Financial Consolidation and Financial Close: Lead Philippine business unit input into global period-end close activities, including preparation of trial balances to be used as part of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Lead preparation of Philippine business inputs into the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintenance of Philippine general ledger, including recording of journal entries for revenue recognition, accruals, etc. in Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Tax Compliance: Work with third-party taxation advisors through providing necessary information to ensure compliance with local Philippine tax regulations, including tax filings and remittances.
  • Statutory Reporting: Lead contact working with third-party statutory reporting advisors to provide necessary information to help ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements in the Philippines.
  • Budget / Actual Comparison: Preparation of analysis, and reporting on of budget to actual for company spend, revenue (customer contracts), etc.
  • Liability Calculation / Reporting: Calculation and reporting of performance / availability guarantee liabilities.
  • Payroll: Preparation of payroll remittance file(s), and coordination of payroll remittance, including liaising with third-party payroll service providers and review / reconciliation of payroll remittances.
  • Expense Report Audit: Perform periodic review of expense reports to ensure accuracy and integrity of expense reports (e.g. amount, currency, dates, classification of expenses, etc.).



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Three to five years of proven experience with technical strengths in accounting, treasury and financial administration.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with Management at all levels.
  • Strong ability to present detailed information to a high quality.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Ability to work with tight timelines in a deadline driven environment.
  • Bonus skills and experience:
    • Microsoft Dynamics, Maximo, and Anaplan
    • Experience in solar power / renewable energy industry considered an asset.
  • Additional language skills: Italian, French, Spanish


  • Credentials and Experience:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Working towards, or currently holds an accounting designation in Asia, in good standing.
  • Fluent in English and Filipino; Italian, French or Spanish considered an asset.
