The primary responsibility will be to achieve this result through the growth and development of Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) as well as the dealer base (install partners).   Overseeing the territory development will include the recruitment, acquisition, and spin-up of new RSMs as well as new partners.  Additionally, the strategic direction of the Southern California Area Residential business, including objectives, goals, and associated tasks will need to be developed, implemented, and managed by this individual.  To succeed in this role, an Area Sales Manager (ASM) must achieve the growth and development of the dealers through Regional Sales Managers.  This person will not manage any accounts directly.


The Area Sales Manager will also act, along with the Regional Sales Manager, as the dealers’ internal advocate while interfacing with marketing, customer service, channel management, operations, logistics, IT, and finance to ensure a best-in-class customer experience.  Providing leadership to achieve results with respect to product launches, financial product introduction, customer service (NPS) scores, and key partner growth will be a critical component of this role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately forecast bookings and revenue 2-3 quarters into the future
  • Ensure consistency, to the maximum extent possible, in the customer experience across the entire Master dealer group
  • Manage multiple metrics including, but not limited to, revenue, margin, revenue per watt, cycle time, sales NPS, install NPS, referral rates, etc.
  • Control operating expenses to the extent that they meet the budget in BOQ/AOP
  • Conduct regular, specific appointments with dealers to communicate key messages
  • Collect dealer feedback and notes from appointments and submit dealer call sheets for each
  • Submit weekly revenue forecasts
  • Attend weekly sales and dealer program meetings
  • Gather market intelligence from dealers and report
  • Frequent regional travel (up to 80%) to installer partners will be required (average 6 – 12 overnight stays per month)
  • 4 weeks of annual travel will be focused on national and regional sales meetings, dealer conferences, and industry conferences
  • Maintain accurate records of customer communication
  • P&L responsibility for $100 MIL+ annual revenue business, managing margins

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of sales management experience
  • 3-5 years managing sales managers in a channel sales environment


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience
  • Advanced Degree is desirable
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
