Family Description:

 

This position reports to the Quality Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will assist the Reliability Engineer in conducting reliability related tests including loading, operating reliability equipment and evaluating test results for all quality and reliability test plans.  This position will serve as a backup resource to operate and manage the reliability tools in the absence of the Reliability Engineer and to analyze and report test results required to characterize product quality and reliability. The candidate will employ and deploy quality and analysis tools to achieve world class operational performance.  The scope of the work encompasses both technical and operational elements.  

This position is a M-F Days position and will work with process engineers, equipment engineers and the manufacturing team to set up sustainable line systems and participate in cross-functional task forces to improve overall quality. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to load and operate all reliability test equipment and processes to support product characterization.
  • Support the scheduling and collection of test samples required for product monitoring and product qualifications.
  • Assist Reliability Engineer in timely characterization of product quality with a disciplined, structured problem solving approach, aligning to business priorities.
  • Utilize necessary metrology and inspection processes to ensure product quality expectations are met.
  • Support product qualifications and BOM improvements with compliance to UL and other regulatory standards.
  • Monitor product reliability data for trends, variation, and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to 8D structured problem solving approaches supporting risk management decisions and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coach and mentor production staff, aligning with quality and reliability goals.
  • Champion quality metrics across the business processes.
  • Facilitate current quality and reliability systems using appropriate monitors that drive and document product reliability.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement for product quality

 

Position Requirements

This position is ideal for an experienced process engineer or process oriented quality engineer with experience as a tool owner or project manager with High Volume Manufacturing experience.  Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Education or related field, or combination of education and work experience.

  • An Associate Degree in a related technical discipline is required.  Consideration will be given to candidates without a degree who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge gained from additional technical/quality experience.
  • Experienced in managing projects and process improvements with the ability to drive multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in working directly with equipment and material suppliers.
  • Strong math skills for analyzing data and reporting.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment as well as a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts including: DOE, FMEA, Lean Methods and 6-Sigma desired
