Essential Functions:

The principal function of this position is to develop, implement, improve, and monitor production processes that improve efficiency, mechanical, and electrical yields; and/or which lower product costs. Will be part of an engineering team responsible for our module manufacturing factory in Hillsboro, OR. Specific tasks may be also in the area of transferring and qualifying tools or processes from our sister factories and new production integration.

  • Plans the process development and improvement of processing operations, considering project deadlines and the time required by others involved in the design, fabrication, and testing of the processing equipment.      
  • Coordinate effectively with cross functional groups (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality) to drive projects around continuous improvement, root cause analysis, yield improvements and cost reduction.
  • Leads process and quality related meetings, prepares meeting minutes, and creates and tracks action items.
  • Supports manufacturing of released processes and products documenting work instructions and support training of personnel. Performs training sessions to educate the operators and follow-up to verify compliance with the procedures.
  • Ensures that assigned projects meet time, standards and performance requirements. Communicates area of risk to management in a timely manner.
  • Develops or revises procedures to be used entreating materials and parts to bring them into conformance with pertinent process specifications.  In conjunction with engineering and manufacturing maintenance, establishes the nature of needed processing operations and equipment.
  • Develops processes and materials designed to improve module performance, improve yield, or lower costs.
  • Examines physical appearance of modules and performs electrical characteristic evaluations to define the basic modules performance parameters. Initiates corrective action by coordinating results with production supervisors and/or lead personnel, and perform follow-up testing to verify problem resolution. 
  • Supplies information of process and quality requirements to be met in the design of processing equipment; makes rough sketches, suggests sour aces of equipment and follows up with suppliers and other organizations involved in the design, fabrication or procurement of processing equipment.  
  • Witnesses initial operation of processing equipment to insure that procedures and equipment yield the desired results. Sets up pilot lines as required to evaluate new or modified processes.  
  • Meets with outside vendors and evaluate alternate materials to develop multiple sources. 
  • As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree or higher degree preferred
  • 5 or more years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:  Process and yield improvement, statistical analysis, product development of components or product assemblies, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, basic tooling and parts design
  • Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, geometric dimensions and tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Understanding of safety in the workplace, new product introduction, qualification, and product reliability testing.
  • Background with one or more of the following is preferred: High volume manufacturing, Automation, Screen Printing, Soldering, Lamination or IV curve testing equipment.
