SUMMARY OF ROLE

 

SunPower is seeking a Manager, Corporate Accounting, to join a world-class dynamic controllership organization within the Corporate Accounting team at SunPower’s headquarters in San Jose, CA. This is a critical lead position which will assist in execution of the Corporate Controllership strategy. This person would be a Certified Accountant who can oversee and support financial consolidation and analyses in support of our monthly, quarterly and year-end close process and provide corporate guidance to the business, regional and country controllers to monitor corporate general ledger activities, governance and compliance across the organization.

 

A successful Manager combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating with a team of accountants and junior accountants.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

 

•             Assist in the global corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

•             Prepare manual journal entries and select account reconciliations

•             Review reconciliations and analysis prepared by global team members to ensure compliance with US GAAP and the Company’s policies and procedures

•             Analyze and summarize consolidated company financial statements each monthly close period

•             Oversee and own monthly close consolidation functions

•             Make practical recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the monthly close process

•             Apply accounting guidance to specific transactions to properly reflect in the consolidated financial statements

•             Oversee and own the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the Accounting system financial statements generation process

•             Liaise with our offshored Global Finance and Business Services team on reconciliations, journal entries and monthly close processes

•             Assist in the gathering and reviewing of consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial information for internal and external reporting, audits, reviews and tax compliance

•             Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen global internal controls

•             Complete and maintain process documentation and ensure SOX 404 compliance for functional area of responsibility

•             Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum requirements:

Educational:  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or equivalent MBA. Other out of country designations may be considered.

Experience:  Minimum of 7 years total experience

 

Preferred requirements:

Experience: 

-              External audit experience preferred (Large international accounting firm preferred)

-              7 years of professional accounting experience

 

Skills:

-              In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

-              Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables

-              Oracle R12 experience a plus

-              Ability to work well with multicultural global cross-functional teams

-              Excellent verbal & written communication skills

-              Strong leadership skills with the ability to both lead and participate in change

-              Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment

-              Accuracy and attention to detail

 

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION

 

-              The position is based in SunPower Philippines, Ltd – ROHQ office in Biñan, Laguna

-              With occasional travel based on Corporate needs

-              Job Grade:  PA.44
