SunPower Corporation’s Distributed Generation Division is looking for a National Sales Director to lead and further develop its distributed generation business in Germany. SunPower has developed a strong business selling through a network of dealers in Germany, and the National Sales Director’s focus will be to lead this business and develop appropriate channels to further grow the business. This role will suit a self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment. SunPower is seeking an individual with experience in electrical distribution market and highly prefers experience selling premium products. Knowledge of and experience in the solar industry is highly preferred. The candidate will need to have the vision and experience to manage senior level business relationships in Germany and cooperate with peers leading similar businesses throughout the European territory. Strong interpersonal and internal coordination skills will be required to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. The National Sales director will lead the sales team in Germany, be home-based and will report directly to the Vice President Distributed Generation EMEA. Sales back-office and other support functions are based in Lyon, France, where occasional coordination meetings will be held.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Establish and achieve quarterly and semi-annual sales quotas
  • Acquire and develop new accounts focused on residential and commercial customers
  • Develop key customer relationships to establish SunPower as the undisputed premium brand in solar panels
  • Implements national sales programs by developing field sales action plans, scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
  • Analyze sub markets in Germany, prioritize sales efforts with key accounts
  • Maximize share-of-account with all accounts by developing an acute understanding of local markets and developing product positioning to suit them
  • Work closely with Marketing, Go-to-Market, Sales Operations and Market Analytics teams to jointly develop tightly coordinated regional business plans
  • Drive the implementation of a robust sales forecasting system
  • Optimize pricing and maximize margins
  • Develop and manage regional strategic partnerships in cooperation with the Business Development function
  • Contribute to cash-collection efforts, and help the credit management team to optimize cash usage
     
    RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated ‘hunter’ mentality with proven track record of independently achieving sales targets in outside sales roles, producing tangible results in a highly dynamic, growing and competitive market
  • Proven performance in developing aggressive but achievable business plans with a track record of delivering on them
  • Understanding of the solar industry, renewable project economics and competitive positioning
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communications skills and a reputation as a team player
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver high quality presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to build and strengthen an organization, building structure over time
  • Strong computer skills, including strength in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • University degree in Engineering, Business, or similar field, with minimum five years related work experience. MBA or other related graduate degree a plus.
  • Fluency in German and English is a minimum requirement, more languages a strong plus
     
  • Up to 50% domestic / international travel
