SunPower is looking for an Instructional Designer to work within our Training and Field Enablement team. Our goal is to develop learning programs aligned with organizational goals to accelerate knowledge and skillsets for our employees and dealer network to set them up for success as we change the way the world is powered.

You’ll play a vital role in partnering with subject matter experts to design and develop compelling self-serve, customizable content across a broad range of users, teams, and geographies. You’ll create learning artifacts in several modalities, including in-person and virtual instructor-led training, on-demand e-Learning, video job aids, learning paths, assessments, reference guides, and train-the-trainer programs.

 

We are looking for instructional design experts who can create sophisticated and engaging content that connects and motivates learners. The right fit will have a customer-first mindset with a relentless focus on a customer-centric user experience to ensure we meet the desired learning objectives. Candidates are solution-focused, collaborative, and creative problem-solvers. This position requires agility to juggle a lot of moving parts and a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Finally, this position will require the ability to easily build relationships with stakeholders at every level of the organization, a bias toward action, and the delivery of results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Analysis
• Conduct assessment and analysis to identify new development needs and recommends training methods accordingly
• Conduct comprehensive needs analysis including researching, benchmarking, and interviewing subject matter experts
• Consult with business partners to design learning solutions based upon audience needs and task analysis that include recommended delivery method, curriculum content, and supporting materials to ensure mastery of learning objectives
• Establish relationships with business partners to stay aligned to forecast learning needs and recommend learning solutions
• Identify and fill gaps in our content and learning materials

Design & Development
• Plan and execute small projects independently
• Design and build transformative learning experiences across modalities (e.g., instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, e-Learning, microlearning, and emerging formats)
• Design, develop, and maintain course materials including instructor manuals, participant guides, e-Learning, video, train-the-trainer materials, job aids, evaluations, tests, etc.
• Review SME work to ensure quality at every step in the development process and offer constructive feedback to all stakeholders from executives to peers to technical subject matter experts
Implementation
• Collaborate with various business groups to implement training and communication strategies
• Ensure successful product delivery under established schedules, working under limited supervision through effective project management

Evaluation
• Track employee performance and measure training outcomes
• Monitor changes in products, procedures, and policies and update appropriate training materials respectively
• Create modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training design through the creation of assessments, activities, and evaluations that gauge the mastery of learning objectives during and after training
• Conduct task/impact analysis using standard department techniques (e.g., surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc.)
• Continuously improve existing training content

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in instructional design, curriculum design, leadership development, organizational development, or another related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience developing learning experiences from conception through delivery for a variety of organizations/contexts
• Experience with e-Learning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline/Rise and Adobe Captivate
• Experience developing content for in-person instructor-led training, course materials, train -the-trainer materials, etc.
• Experience developing content for virtual instructor-led training (e.g., Zoom, WebEx, Adobe Connect)
• Experience with developing video training content (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro)

Essential Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of instructional design, development methodologies, and adult learning theory
• Proven ability to work independently with senior staff guidance
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience navigating learning management systems such as Success Factors and Cornerstone
• Facilitation skills
• Project management experience and/or certification
• Excellent presentation skills
