Senior Accountant - DG Residential





Sunpower is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to support the residential segment of our high-energy Distributed Generation (DG) business, located in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of accounting experience, including some public accounting. This position is a critical accounting, financial reporting and compliance role within the fastest growing segment of the business, including direct sales, residential leasing and financial products.  This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager, DG Residential, and the responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:



  • Provide real- time accounting, reporting and analysis, including maintaining and improving accounting and reporting systems, managing relationships and overseeing bookkeeping performed by Global Business & Financial Services (“GBFS”) team in Philippines.
  • Assist in managing month-end close, accounting processes and procedures related to all aspects of the business and in line with corporate and external reporting guidelines.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Compilation and presentation of the monthly reporting package to executive management.
  • Management of quarterly, interim and year-end audit PBCs (external/SOX/compliance).
  • Assist with user testing of various IT projects and operationalization of new business developments.
  • The senior accountant will also have the opportunity to work on multiple other financing projects, working closely with our residential business partners.




Minimum requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Certified public accountant or actively working on becoming a CPA
  • Public accounting experience with big 4 or national accounting firm
  • Proficiency with Excel/Word/PPT


Preferred requirements

  • Willingness to travel as needed (<10%)
  • Experience with GAAP technical accounting research and application
  • Experience with identifying process improvement opportunities and proposing viable solutions
  • Experience operating under tight deadlines (e.g. monthly close, quarterly close, annual close, audit, tax, etc.)
  • Experience with SOX
  • Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system (eg SAP)
  • Strong interpersonal skils and the ability to interact positively with other teams
