Summary of Role:

SunPower Direct Sales is one of SunPower’s newest channels in North America. The Direct Sales Trainer will be responsible for training the Direct Energy Consultants on the SunPower Residential Sales Process.  This position will collaborate with the Corporate Sales Training team to continue to refine the SunPower residential sales process and adapt to new products and services.  In addition to conducting formal training sessions, including new employee orientation, this position will be coaching our existing team by reviewing recorded consultations and provide feedback to the Energy Consultants.

Develops employee training in sales, and sales processes. Plans course design and support documentation. Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives. May manage instructional design projects from development to deployment. Maintains communication to ensure the effectiveness of training. Requires understanding of current process and application. Creates measurement tools to evaluate the efficient operation of our residential sales process.

SunPower sells premium solar electric solutions to homeowners expecting a world-class customer experience. This Direct Sales Trainer must be able to train a value-based sales approach, harnessing the value of SunPower products, premium installation workmanship, and a world-class customer experience.

In this position, you will work at the SunPower Austin office.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Master the SunPower Residential Sales Process
  • Train our new Direct Energy Consultants during orientation
  • Evaluate and coach the Direct sales team on the SunPower residential sales process
  • Participate in sales calls, shadowing and supporting the Energy Consultants
  • Maintain minimum closing ratio quota
  • Collaborate with Direct Sales Managers to ensure the sales process is followed on every consultation
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Economics, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a similar field, with a minimum of 2 years sales experience



  • Proven track record of training sales teams to success
  • Experience using Solution Selling
  • Sales training experience
  • Growth mindset and commitment to ongoing improvement processes
  • Experience selling products in markets/industries offering multiple financing options
  • Strong computer skills, including strength in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to thrive in a high intensity, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Present well, demonstrated success with online sales a major plus
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management tools, or CRMs (ex. Salesforce)
  • Strong interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful experience selling in a premium home improvement market representing high-end, premium products sold virtually and or across the kitchen table (solar, HVAC, Windows, other)
  • Closing expertise in high tickets deals against low-price competitors
  • Construction-related experience

  • The position requires travel with the potential of overnight stays between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Less than or equal to 10% travel.

  • Work in an office environment and sustain posture in a seated position for moderate periods of time
  • Hearing must be adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone
  • Able to communicate orally with management, co-workers, and the public in face to face, one on one and group settings
  • Able to use and learn standard field operations equipment, standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
