SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is seeking a talented, hands-on Product Manager to join our Residential Product Development team.  This position will lead definition and implementation of product and business strategies to support SunPower’s fleet of residential installations.  They will be responsible for carrying out key activities to ensure that the functional operations of the company are aligned with customer needs.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen, demonstrated background in defining and launching complex product solutions, the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment, and a passion for changing the way our world is powered.  This position will report to the Director of Residential Product Management team and will work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver best-in-class product solutions to our customers and partners.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Drive cross-functional efforts to develop product solutions to address SunPower’s legacy products including solar equipment and site monitoring
  • Develop business plans and operational models to support SunPower’s growing fleet of residential solar installations
  • Prioritize new product development and product revisions to ensure alignment with residential product roadmap
  • Serve as “voice of the customer” for product development and product support initiatives and define key customer experience criteria
  • Identify key market opportunities and translate them into strong business cases for product support initiatives
  • Gather feedback from customers and partners to ensure closed-loop learning in our product development efforts
  • Understand changing market and permitting requirements to ensure SunPower’s product offering complies with applicable standards
  • Monitor market requirements to identify trends, generate product requirements, determine specifications, and recognize partnership opportunities
  • Create and refine sales & training tools to support SunPower’s technical support team, installation teams, and partners
  • Develop and improve existing internal operational processes for product line operations

 

Qualification requirements

  • BS in a technical field, preferably software or electrical engineering; MBA is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experiences; 3+ years of progressive business leadership and complex program/product delivery
  • Experience in developing complex systems integrating both hardware and software elements
  • Strong market analysis capability and business operations acumen, with a demonstrated ability in a Product Management capacity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; proven ability to influence and work with all levels of an organization
  • Solid technical foundation, ability to learn and adapt quickly, and demonstrated ability to frame and drive business decisions
  • Experience supporting customers in an external-facing role
  • Solar and/or Storage experience a plus
