SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is looking for a talented Accounting Manager to support our Residential & Light Commercial business, located in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of accounting experience, including some public accounting. This position is a critical accounting, financial reporting and compliance role within the fastest-growing segment of the business. The responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Serve as an integral accounting and finance partner to the business in support of the accounting and financial analysis for residential sales
  • Provide real-time accounting, reporting, and analysis, including maintaining and improving accounting and reporting systems, managing relationships and overseeing bookkeeping performed by Global Business & Financial Services (“GBFS”) team in the Philippines.
  • Manage month-end close, accounting processes and procedures related to all aspects of the business and in line with corporate and external reporting guidelines.
  • Review journal entries on a monthly basis.
  • Complete and maintain process documentation and ensure SOX compliance for the functional area in addition to serving as the key liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Analyze reserves, results of operations, business trends and metrics, prepare and present financial summaries and various analyses for upper management.
  • Assist with accounting set up and procedures for new business initiatives.
  • Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting position papers as needed. Propose and help implement proper accounting procedures, in accordance with GAAP and IFRS

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • CPA
  • Public accounting experience with a national accounting firm
  • Technical knowledge of GAAP and SOX
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience

 

Preferred requirements

  • Experience with identifying process improvement opportunities and proposing viable solutions
  • Experience operating under tight deadlines (e.g. monthly close, quarterly close, annual close, audit, tax, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system (eg SAP)
