IT Manager – US




SunPower is seeking an experienced Senior IT Manager to help build their rapidly growing global Operations and Maintenance group. This is a field service organization with a highly technical and skilled workforce responsible for the control and upkeep of renewable energy power plants owned by sophisticated customers. Provided services include asset management, remote monitoring, control, maintenance, urgent troubleshooting as well as comprehensive engineered solutions.


The IT Senior Manager will play a leading role in building a new IT team, developing strategies, and building an agile environment to enable the business in achieving its short and long-run objectives in the most efficient manner possible.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead the development of a lean IT operating framework and application, data, and infrastructure architecture for corporate and operational IT which aligns with business goals and leverages modern IT methods and innovations.
  • Build a lean, agile IT team of internal resources and third-party service providers that aligns with the operating model and business needs.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage contracts and relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Proactive collaboration with the business and other back office functions to understand their specific uses and align IT to meet their evolving needs.
  • Lead IT initiatives, and report on IT operations.
  • Hands-on tactical management of all facets in the IT landscape from resolving business issues to leading the IT team.
  • Proactive and value drive IT budget management to align with overall financial goals.
  • Assist in developing a data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the business to drive management reporting and provide operational value.
  • Design and implementation of effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data for customers both internal and external.
  • Assess database implementation to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Anticipate business needs and proactively provide the capability for data-driven decisions.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated self-starter and hands-on approach to providing solutions for complex business problems leveraging data and technology.
  • 8+ years of experience building and managing modern IT teams and operations.
  • A working knowledge of all IT facets and experience in IT architecture including infrastructure, applications, storage and networking, data analytics, and security.
  • Proven leadership and people/talent management capabilities.
  • Proven interpersonal skills: collaboration and communications (oral, written, presentation), ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, work with a diverse and international customer base.
  • Strong financial management.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-profile conflicting priorities including a diverse project portfolio across business lines and geographies, ensuring committed deliveries are on time and budget.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles.
  • Highly developed negotiation skills in a multi-vendor outsourced environment.
  • Experience with distributed operational site connectivity and management and contact center technology would be an asset.
  • Experience with cloud-based business intelligence, data science, and data warehouse technologies.


Formal Education & Certification

  • University degree in the field of computer science or business administration.



  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the United States for any employer.
