SUMMARY OF ROLE

 

SunPower is seeking a Financial Controller to support the Operations and Maintenance division. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of the Operations and Maintenance division, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the implementation and administration of the Operations and Maintenance finance function, and will provide management with a full range of financial services to support the business, globally. This will include period-end close activities, financial consolidation, and financial statement preparation, establishing accounting policies and internal control processes, and overseeing statutory reporting and tax compliance globally. The Financial Controller will be responsible for implementing and administering these services in a manner that drives operational efficiency and profitability, as measured by revenue generation and EBITDA.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Financial Close and Financial Consolidation: Support timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities in Microsoft Dynamics, including coordination with local finance teams for local period-end close activities, and consolidation of global entities (EMEA, South America, and Asia).
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Lead the preparation of quarter-end and year-end financial statements to support financial reporting as required by lending agreements, senior management, and ownership.
  • Finance / Accounting Policies: Maintenance and updating of finance and accounting policies for global business, including ensuring adherence to corporate accounting policies for financial accounting and reporting requirements (internal and external) in relation to US and local GAAP.
  • Internal Control Oversight: Provide oversight with regards to the maintenance and updating of the global internal control framework, including ensuring adequate internal control policies and procedures are in place and operational.
  • Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external service providers to help ensure compliance with tax regulations, including management of local finance teams working with local tax outsource service providers to support tax compliance, globally.
  • Statutory Reporting: Preparation of statutory reporting and statutory financial filings, through working/coordinating with third-party service providers.
  • Third-Party Finance Service Provider Coordination: Management of relationships with finance outsource service providers, including oversight of local finance teams working with local finance outsource providers.
  • Audit Support: As needed, coordination and management of annual audit, including preparation of information and documentation to support annual audit, and being the lead point of contact with auditors throughout the audit process.

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Seven to ten years of proven experience with technical strengths in financial controllership, treasury, and financial administration.
  • Proven ability to establish a new accounting team, including supporting the implementation of an ERP system and hiring of staff.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Demonstrated experience liaising directly with ownership, lenders and other financial stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with Management at all levels

Bonus Skills and experience

  • Microsoft Dynamics, Maximo, and Anaplan
  • Solar power / renewable energy industry.
  • Early-stage companies and establishment of a finance function an asset.
  • Additional language skills: Italian, French, Spanish, Filipino

 

Credentials and Experience

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Currently holds a CPA designation in the United States, in good standing.

  • Candidate must be willing to travel globally (25% of the time).
