SUMMARY OF ROLE:

SunPower is seeking for Collection Manager who will be responsible for minimizing financial losses, increase cash collection and reduction in cash collection cycle time. We are looking to bring on dedicated, results-driven individuals who can balance assertiveness and empathy while negotiating.  This position will manage Consumer Collection, Loss Mitigation, and Legal Oversight and would be process owner for these functions and will not have people reporting to them.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Design, develop, and deploy effective and efficient collection strategies, processes and workflows. Work with the Compliance Department, to ensure that credit and collection policies, procedures, practices, and documentation meet federal and state regulations
  • Authorize legal proceedings. Review legal documents for accuracy and completeness such as default notices, surrender notices, bankruptcy procedures, or foreclosure notices
  • Facilitate communication and meetings related to customer complaints concerning billing or service rendered
  • Set and manage delinquency, roll rates and collection efforts to achieve desired results
  • Handles escalated communication when necessary in a professional manner
  • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed
  • Approve Refund Requests and Payment Plans as outlined in the Approval Matrix
  • Collaborate with other departments to define/enhance processes impacting Customer interactions
  • Engage with the legal team to manage loss mitigation and legal action

     

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

           

Minimum requirements:

  • Finance and Accounting knowledge. 
  • 5-7 years of Consumer Collections experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of US state and federal collection laws

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks independently in an unstructured environment with limited direction
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as be a part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under a tight deadline
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, UDAAP, GLBA
