Position Description 


SunPower is seeking to hire an Asset Manager located in Austin, TX.  This position will be responsible for the management of all commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations of a portfolio of SunPower solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in both the commercial and power plant market segments.  The position will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to manage the long-term financial performance of their assigned assets with the goal of maximizing return on investment for the various project level investors.  Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring of project-level profit & loss (P&L) activities to ensure that the projects are delivering expected financial returns
  • Coordinating closely with the accounting team to ensure monthly accruals, GL entries, and internal reporting are competed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Administering all project-level financing agreements including the execution of construction loan draws, lease payments and investor cash distributions
  • Overseeing fulfillment and compliance of all project-level contracts including the PPA, LGIA, O&M, EPC and financing agreements
  • Managing relationships with key project level stakeholders including cash and tax equity investors, off-takers, contractors and various regulatory bodies
  • Supports cross-functional teams in resolution of material issues affecting assigned assets (e.g. commercial disputes, warranty claims, environmental or regulatory violations)
  • Monitoring and driving PV plant operational performance by working closely with the operations team to identify and prioritize improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing project-level compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements, ensuring that all filings are completed accurately and on-time
  • Ensuring the management framework developed by the Asset Management team is implemented consistently across all projects in the assigned portfolio
  • Developing market knowledge with the goal of serving as the internal subject matter expert in the structure of the electricity markets in which the power plants are located

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience
  • Advanced Degree is desirable
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience


Preferred Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Engineering, Business or a related field
  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience
  • Advanced degree or MBA
  • Previous experience within renewal energy industry (wind and/or solar preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks independently in an unstructured environment with limited direction
  • Capable of identifying and resolving legal and business issues, appropriately balancing legal issues with business risk
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, growing company
  • Detail-oriented and capable of driving multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work closely with members of different business groups and functions of a global company at all level
  • Strong desire to advance the adoption of renewable energies in the global energy mix
  • Ability to travel at least 10% of time both domestically and internationally
  • Based in Austin, Texas
