Summary of Role:

 

The New Home Division of SunPower is seeking a Sales Executive to drive sales in the multifamily segment of California. For all Multifamily developments, 3 stories or less, permitted in California after January 1, 2020, must now be constructed with solar electric.  The MF Sales Executive will report to the Sr. Director of Sales and will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, setting and attending customer meetings, preparing and presenting proposals and closing new business.  The Multi-Family Sales Executive will work closely with internal teams to educate and develop product offerings necessary for SunPower to be successful in this vertical. It is expected that the successful candidate would work with products, marketing, finance, operations and other key cross-functional teams to develop and deliver highly competitive solutions.

 

The MF Account Executive role will involve close interactions internally and with key external customers, partners and influencers. SunPower will help produce qualified leads, however the successful candidate will also be adept at seeking out new opportunities and customers through tradeshows, referrals, research and other means. The MF Sales Executive will be responsible for working closely with the operations team to ensure product offering and pricing is in line with costing, communication of customer and project requirements, contracting and seamless handoff to the SunPower fulfillment team.  The MF Account Executive will maintain ongoing contact with the customer throughout the project life and communicate as necessary with SunPower team members.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop sales strategy for identified opportunities and drive process including deal structuring, pricing and proposal development in coordination with peer departments and supporting functions. 
  • Grow a network of sponsors and supporters at multiple levels within target accounts. Engage executive-level decision-makers by demonstrating a thorough understanding of their business strategy and communicate how our energy portfolio solutions will improve their business results.
  • Produce and deliver project level proposals that satisfy SunPower requirements (price, margin, scope, deliverables, etc.)
  • Effectively position the strategic value of SunPower’s solutions to key decision-makers and influencers throughout the account
  • Network with adjacent industries that support multifamily development (i.e., civil engineers, architects, financiers, etc.)
  • Follow-up, engage and book new business.
  • Work with products team, develop competitively priced standard offering solution (panel, inverter, mounting, etc.)
  • Work with project finance to understand financial offerings applicable to MF segment, provide closed-loop learning to improve financial offerings over time.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and PR department on lead generation opportunities and other marketing, outreach and educational materials deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate with legal and risk teams on contract negotiations and bookings.
  • Assist Sales Director in forecasting bookings and deployment assumptions.
  • In conjunction with operational leadership, develop SOP around project handoffs upon booking.
  • Other duties as required to support team objectives

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of enterprise-level sales experience, in energy, systems, equipment, or related solutions sales
  • Successful track record in closing new business with enterprise account targets
  • Experience with growing significant customer relationships interfacing with executive-level decision-makers
  • Experience with large and strategic customer management
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Experience in strategic business planning
  • Strong financial business acumen
  • Strong background in value-based selling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in engineering, business or finance discipline. Master’s degree a plus.

 

Preferred requirements

 

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance or Energy related disciplines
  • Previous experience engaging with and selling to multifamily developers
  • On-site and large-scale off-site solar project sale experience
  • Familiarity with contracting structures for on-site and off-site solar and energy management contracts including but not limited to:  PPAs, Contract for Differences, Virtual PPAs, & EPC Contracts.
