This position is responsible for the direct site-level management, oversight, implementation and execution of safe, on-schedule, on-budget support and delivery of assigned projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. Establishes, enforces and oversees project-specific and corporate safety goals, product and project quality objectives and installation procedures. Maintains working relationship as liaison with client, safety teams, project management teams, site-level customer representatives, internal and external engineering or quality control and products teams, on-site contractors and internal and external supply chains. Directs and monitors field-level construction activities on-site by driving schedule forward and providing updates to Project Manager and direction to the contracted workforce, scheduling delivery updates to supply chains and logistics coordinators, administrative updates and creation of daily logs, project documentation & reporting. May be required to manage multiple trades on a single large-scale project or on multi-site commercial projects ranging in size and contract scope while meeting/maintaining expectations of safety, schedule & quality in equal measured sum.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):


  • Responsible for enforcing and monitoring SunPower corporate safety and quality standards on assigned projects with the shared attitude that safety is always the number one priority in the construction field.  
  • Responsible for ensuring and supporting 100% customer satisfaction on assigned projects
  • Required to professionally, effectively communicate with a customer representative, permitting agencies, internal/external supply chains, Associate Project Manager, Project Manager, direct CM supervisor, contractors, commissioning groups and other internal team members
  • Serves as the SunPower on-site representative to the customer, all authorities having jurisdiction of inspection, and other project or 3rd party engineering consulting personnel as the face of SunPower
  • Responsible for communicating the of progress reporting for assigned projects to Project Manager and client and completing detailed 3-week look ahead schedules on a timed regular basis
  • Must be able to learn & use SunPower Project/Construction Management software tools by providing detailed documentation, system updates, weekly/bi-weekly project updates and notifications to your internal project team
  • Manages all field-level construction activities, and oversight of closeout for all assigned projects internally and externally with Utility, Commissioning and Client requests, punch-list creation and management to effectively, efficiently close-out project(s) safety.
  • Walk project site(s) to identify and report constructability or safety risks prior to mobilization
  • Work with Project Manager to develop key deliverables from design, procurement, and construction teams prior to mobilization
  • Reviews and understands overview of trade prime/subcontract specific scopes of work
  • Attends and actively participates in the client Kick-off meeting and establishes client relationship for means of daily communication
  • Attends and actively participates in weekly internal and external project meetings as directed by the Project Manager. May be required to lead or run project meetings based on Project Managers direction
  • Reviews & understands project drawings prior to IFC release and identifies constructability issues in Civil/Structural/Electrical scopes. Responsible for understanding addenda to the drawings and become familiar with project Field Assembly Sheets (if applicable)
  • Drives Quality expectations on project. Documents and reports material, installation and non-conformance issues as required to ensure delivery of a quality product to the end-user or customer
  • Manages and oversees a safe, secure site during the construction phase following and enforcing environmental construction standards as required
  • Reviews and is familiar with SPWR Construction Safety Manual. Logs and maintains all SunPower safety signage, documentation and required materials in an appropriate, organized location on the project site. Notifies safety EHS and project team members immediately or within eight hours of an incident or accident associated with the project or site personnel. Documents and reports good catches, near misses and incidents as required
  • Reviews with designated competent person MOP/JHA’s/Excavation/Crane and safe work permits or planned procedures for high-risk work activities with contractors prior to work commencing. Implements and participates in the development of best practices as required for scope activity
  • Conducts or attends daily/weekly safety meetings or participates in an active safety culture on multi-site portfolio
  • Leverages knowledge of industry best practices, lessons learned, and collaboratively innovates with the entire team to value engineer & capture reduced construction costs wherever possible
  • May evaluate the performance of more junior projects personnel to provide accurate feedback and reporting on the level of performance within the department
  • Review BOM/BOS NIM material count and spec to confirm alignment with project drawings. Understands product system design intent & mitigates risk impact of field changes by tracking an overview of status on RFI’s as needed. Review and advise Project Team regarding GC and/or Subcontractor and DB/DBB related RFI questions, potential solutions and potential impacts to budget and schedule.
  • Reviews with Contractor or construction site team inventory and non-inventory material as it arrives on-site to meet design spec requirements and report deficiencies as required
  • Coordinate with GC and/or Subcontractors on completion and turnover of project-specific information, including as-built drawings, binders, tools/equipment, punch-list management, etc. with all information uploaded to the project system of record.
  • Provide feedback and lessons learned in communication to team members upon project completion.  


Preferred Experience:

The ideal candidate will be a creative and collaborative self-starter working well in a team environment as well as working remotely on a project. Preferred individuals will be familiar with current local and national electrical codes and internationally recognized building code standards, industry best practices, basic risk management concepts and have an ability to problem-solve proactively by identifying & correcting inefficiencies or schedule/scope gaps or potentially negative impacts to the project before they arise. Prior reach lift/fork lift/scissor lift certification and fall protection training preferred. Superintendent, project management solar industry certifications or industry experience desired.  

Must be familiar with standard Construction Management fundamentals by facilitating various methods of project delivery. Must be able to navigate basic software tools such as WebEx, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF & Mark-Up. Must have OSHA 30 training Certificate & First Aid training. Must be able to safely lift at least 50lbs.  


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience. 
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
