Learning and Development Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with HR Business Partners and business leaders in formulating and developing training and development strategies that align with the company’s strategic plan and goals.  Demonstrate knowledge of training, coaching and performance management methodologies.
  • Oversees, designs, develops and delivers modern learning experiences that meet the needs and expectations our current workforce and that supports their desire for professional growth and development.
  • Partners with Safety and Legal organizations to design, develop and deliver compliance training program that aligns with broader learning and safety culture
  • Assists in establishing, documenting and communicating our professional development philosophy and resources to ensure the consistent application and implementation of learning practices across the organization. In addition, writes articles and utilizes marketing and branding techniques to promote learning opportunities, trends and resources to build and increase overall engagement and excitement around learning and self-development.
  • Develops leadership development framework and training programs to support career growth and succession planning efforts
  • Deliver learning content to managers and supervisors
  • Evaluates, leverages and integrates technology and digital learning tools, including social learning capabilities, to make learning “real time” and to encourage continuous learning.
  • Continually audits and monitors productivity levels, performance, engagement and skills to determine if our learning and development efforts are meeting the needs of our workforce.


  • Leads the design and implementation of various learning programs and initiatives such as mentoring, succession planning, train the trainer, etc.
  • Partners and manages external training and development vendors who can provide customized training and development. Also partners with the leadership team in identifying the most critical performance and skill gaps and training opportunities.
  • Benchmarks and maintains an ongoing familiarity with best practices and innovations in the learning and development field to continuously improve and enhance educational programs.
  • Establishes and utilizes metrics and other evidence to measure and demonstrate performance improvement resulting from training and development efforts.
  • Be a dynamic developer and storyteller for new practical and creative solutions to employee development and learning programs
  • Work closely with our HR team to develop training of business leaders at the Director, manager and supervisor level on how to coach and develop their teams, provide regular feedback and set development goals in a practical, meaningful manner.
  • Work closely with HR to develop a strategy for onboarding employees that gives new hires the tools they need to succeed in our workplace


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of corporate L&D experience
  •  Advanced degree preferred
  • OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience


Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree in organizational development/organizational behavior preferred. Related talent and development experience considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 7 years of talent development and learning experience
  • Strong planning and execution skills and the ability to accomplish projects and initiatives through others.
  • Technical proficiency to leverage technology to enhance learning.
  • Experience designing, delivering and implementing innovative professional development and training programs.
  • Experience managing compliance and safety training programs
  • Ability to measure and articulate key learning outcomes using metrics and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate a learning environment to make learning interesting, fun and exciting.
  • Skilled in assessing learning programs, conducting surveys, focus groups and research.
  • Experience with design of curriculum with subject matter expertise in leadership and professional development
  • Confident in public speaking and facilitating large groups.
  • Strong process thinking and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholder priorities at once.
  • Familiarity with learning evaluation theory and ability to develop metrics and measures that links learning with performance improvement.
  • Must have a strong customer focus and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous and complex work situations.
  • Experience and knowledge of virtual learning delivery methods and systems.
