SUMMARY OF ROLE

SunPower is looking for a Senior Accountant for our SunPower Energy Services business, located in Austin, TX. This position serves a critical corporate role responsible for accounting and analysis functions under a strict 5-day close. Senior Accountant will work hand in hand with our commercial and residential business partners, including cross-functional and cross-geographical teams. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager, and the responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an integral accounting and finance partner to the business in support of the accounting and financial analysis for inventory and product warranty.
  • Provide real-time accounting, reporting and analysis, including maintaining and improving accounting and reporting systems, managing relationships and overseeing bookkeeping performed by Global Business & Financial Services ("GBFS") team in the Philippines.
  • Manage month-end close, accounting processes and procedures related to all aspects of the business and in line with corporate and external reporting guidelines.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Complete and maintain process documentation and ensure SOX 404 compliance for the functional area in addition to serving as the key liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Analyze reserves, results of operations, business trends and metrics, prepare and present financial summaries and various analyses for upper management.
  • Assist with accounting set up and procedures for new business initiatives.
  • Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting position papers as needed. Propose and help implement proper accounting procedures, in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.

 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements - The least amount of skills and training candidates must have to do a specific job. Candidates not meeting these requirements will not be hired for this position.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or similar).
  • CPA
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of progressive experience in accounting.
  • Public accounting experience with big 4 or national accounting firm.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting procedures, accounting systems and SOX process.

 

Preferred requirements

  • Knowledge in Oracle.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and PPT.
  • Deadline oriented.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (<10%)
