The experience we would expect the ideal person to deliver is: 

The permit supervisor is to serve as the direct manager for the California residential permit runner field team. Ensuring timely permit collection from city and county building departments. Accomplishing this by working directly with runners, SunPower sales and operations, home builders, and city/county agencies as needed. Proactively identify requirements, potential roadblocks and facilitating resolution so projects remain on schedule.
As the subject matter expert on building department requirements and SunPower permit processes. This position will guide the runner team by launching the community object, developing standard operating procedure documentation, manage permit production proficiencies, and facilitate all trainings.
Being the liaison between building departments, builder customer staff, and internal departments – will require this position to be organized, experienced, and a leader of personnel and process.


Key responsibilities:
• Be competent in creating reports and dashboards within Salesforce to effectively manage production pipeline
• Develop and standardize process through research/experience, documentation and ongoing training
• Performance manage the permit runner team to be within agreed upon service level agreements. Host one on one calls with runners
• Strong understanding of solar design plan sets: roof layouts, equipment specifications, single line diagrams
• Develop and maintain a good rapport with building departments and builder customers
• Strong understanding of state and local code requirements
• Monitor all upcoming and in progress projects – both at community and lot levels
• Host permit team meetings - to communicate and ensure team understanding of company policies, announcements
• Ensure the field based SunPower runner team is safe; by adhering to strict safety guidelines and vehicle maintenance
• Be responsive and professional – through email and calls
• Hire and train as needed to maintain a consistent and on time production volume
• Performs other duties as assigned


Manage production pipeline:
• Oversee the production of the permit team at large with dashboard and individual runner performance management
• Ensure the permit runner team is managing dashboards for apply, pick up and delivery, and rework tasks as needed – to comply with interdepartmental service level agreements
• Work closely with SunPower operations staff, design team, account managers and others internally as needed. Be involved in cross-team initiatives, projects, process updates, etc.
• Guide internal and external teams to the specific building department process of where work is being executed
• Manage vendor relationships, purchase orders, and production
• Oversee permit runner Pcard and check book transactions

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but can be substituted with 4 year’s work experience.

4+ years’ experience managing permit process of any construction trade, preferably solar

2+ years’ experience working in CRM platform like salesforce to manage production

1+ years’ experience managing a permit team of runners, is a plus
