Summary of Role:

SunPower is seeking a Senior Staff Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. Individuals in this role support our manufacturing operations and ensure the availability of raw materials and services. It is the job of the Senior Staff Buyers to ensure continuous cost saving through negotiations and through our value engineering projects. They are also responsible for ensuring compliance with all internal and external audit requirements. In this role, Senior Staff Buyers will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine the required materials that need to be purchased. In addition, they will obtain the proper materials using the engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels.

Qualified individuals must be comfortable resolving discrepancies and working towards individual, and team goals. It is essential that our Senior Staff Buyers maintain material and commodity numbers in the supply chain and the enterprise-wide systems. It is also essential that team members are able to develop specifications for new contract orders, gather quotations, examines bids, and makes awards. Monitoring costs, schedules and the scope of assigned subcontracts are frequent activities along with the evaluation of vendor reliability and the development of new supply sources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent working knowledge of SunPower product assortments and material purchasing requirements
  • Develop thorough demand and forecast plans on commodities and communicate business needs to suppliers using historic and current data trends
  • Negotiate product costs and terms of agreements with vendor partners.
  • Also, seek out, develop, and maintain vendor partnerships
  • Maintain accuracy of ERP systems and product inventory and company product demand
  • Prepare and execute requisitions and provide accurate information to team members and vendors about the company requirements and purchasing requests
  • Using pricing information from multiple vendors determine and secure optimal pricing solutions on materials
  • Accurately develop a competitive analysis and execute effective decision making based on data to ensure optimal price points
  • Select, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to ensure compliance with the Company’s corporate policies and procedures
  • Ensure that purchases made are within budget and meet the quality standards and scheduling requirements
  • Frequently coordinate and communicate activities with internal and external sources; could be vendor partners or teams cross-functionally within SunPower
  • Must take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work produced
  • Strong working knowledge of procurement processes and ability to read and interpret technical information
  • Guide entry-level Buyers and Sr. Buyers when coordinating purchasing activities with teams cross-functionally and the planning and acquisition of inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Work with Senior Staff Buyer on the execution of projects and learn duties of project objectives and completion strategies
  • Develop annual purchasing objectives, and short-term and long-term commodity objectives to reduce costs of materials for the company
  • Establish and manage contracts and relationships with suppliers
  • May lead a small group of Buyers to accomplish components of projects start to finish
  • Creates purchase orders, obtain approval and monitor/follow-up on delivery and ensure of compliances to company policy and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, Business, or Engineering
  • 8+ years of related working experience or an advanced degree with 6+ years of related experience, or a PhD with 3+ years of working experience, or equivalent related experience

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively think through scenarios, problem solve and innovatively think on the job
  • Experience in ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience raw material purchases (Chemical, gas, ink, metal, sputtering targets and packaging) and services (Labor supply, IT, insurance, clean room consumable, transportation and training).  
  • Experience in implementation of strategic sourcing roadmap
  • Experience in compliance of RoHS, Conflict Mineral, LMW, GST, STA, DG Goods and CWC requirements
  • Understanding of TCO model in procurement.
  • Experience in crisis management and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) execution
  • Experience in managing, negotiating, and developing supply agreement or contract
  • Proficiency in the analysis of supply plan analysis based on various factors

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification like CIPS, CPM
  • Certified internal or external auditors
  • Experience in supplier audit locally and overseas
  • Experience in Solar, Semiconductor and Electronics industry
  • Engineering working experience
  • Language skills in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese

  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for working hours

  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
  • The position requires travel with the potential of overnight stays between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Less than or equal to 10% travel.
  • Day to day work is completed in the office at personal computer M-F, first shift hours but could also be in a manufacturing setting
  • Noise levels may vary ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines, telephones, but occasionally may be above average for portions of the business day
